As a mom to three very different kiddos I am always researching for the best summer camps that will spark their creativity, get them moving, and support their individual passions. I’ve asked my friends from around town to be in this guide because I think they are the best of the best and should be shouted from the rooftops. From science, golf, art, all day camps, and so much more - we’ve got you covered. Thank you to my partners for making this guide come to life.

YMCA

At the YMCA, providing safe, high-quality, and enriching experiences for all youth has always been our top priority, and even in today’s world, this promise remains true. Although we can’t know for certain what the future holds, we are busy planning camps that are SAFE and full of life-changing experiences and unforgettable memories for school-age children entering grades 1-6. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that every child has access to summer day camp programs.

Columbus Metro Parks

We LOVE the Columbus Metro Parks and all of their events including summer camps. I would absolutely recommend checking out this option for some fun outdoor time for your kids this summer.

Hilliard Arts Council

Instilling an appreciation in the arts with our youth is an important part of our mission and what better way to do that than through an immersive art experience in a camp setting. Every summer, Hilliard Arts Council provides several camp experiences in a week-long day camp format each organized around a particular arts theme for youth grades 1 through 8. Currently, there are camps in drama, visual arts, and improvisation.

Columbus Children’s Theatre

We have eight weeks of summer camps running from June 5th all the way through August 4. Each week has it’s own unique theme from Lion King to Wicked to Hamilton and even Disney’s Descendants! CCT campers enjoy a unique and fun-filled summer experience taught by our talented teaching artists who also work professionally as artists or performers throughout the region.

Our engaging musical theatre camps are open to experienced and first-time students. Campers will learn the art of musical theatre acting and what it means to be a character and how to portray their character through dialogue, choreography, and song.

We provide a safe, comfortable environment where campers can truly enjoy theatre and the art-making process. Theatre360 camps are multidisciplinary and are designed to engage all types of learners. Campers participate in acting, movement, design, costuming, and stagecraft (carpentry, sound, and lighting) classes throughout the week.

Columbus Children’s Theatre

At CCT, we take a holistic approach to theatre education. Each week of camp will give students both onstage performance experience as well as backstage production experience in theatrical disciplines like scenic design, costuming, and more.

We believe this creates a well-rounded educational experience and encourages imaginative curiosity for students of all ages and experience levels. Apart from learning about the art of theatre, students will grow invaluable life skills such as confidence, communication, and collaboration.
