Mother's Day Gift Guide - Brought To You By 12 Local 614 Moms

I am so excited to share this post with you!  I asked some really great local moms to share with us what is on their list for Mother's Day and what they love about being a mother.  Scroll through to see some of our favorite Columbus business owners and bloggers share their wishlists.  Hopefully you'll get some great ideas.  I am going to start with my wishlist, just in case my husband visits the blog for some inspiration ;-) When you're done scrolling through head over to Stacie's page to check out her Mother's Day post...I promise you do not want to miss it (you can find her link below with her wishlist).  What is on your wishlist?  Share with us in the comments!

For Mother's Day I would like to be able to sleep in and wake up to kids and a husband already showered and ready to go, so that I can get ready peacefully.  I would love a nice brunch with my family of four and my mom, followed by a day going on adventures, starting with the park maybe even heading out of town for some hiking.  We love hiking. My husband coordinates some type of homemade Mother's Day gift every year and those are always my favorite..so I would like for him to carry on that tradition.  There is one thing that I really want, that would bring me straight to tears and that is a necklace from K Kane with Emmalyn's handwriting. Now that Emmalyn can write and spell her name (and a lot more) on her own, I would love to have a timeless piece of jewelry to remember her 5 year old handwriting.

"My favorite part of being a mom is watching my children blossom into these amazing people. My heart bursts with pride for them every single day.   Watching them together as siblings is the greatest gift, I am so happy that they have each other, and I hope they always know how lucky they are to be so close"

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

1. A morning with my husband and two children at our favorite donut shop!
2. I would love to go on a bike ride with my family.
3. I would like to meet my Mom for a Mother’s Day lunch just the two of us!

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"Every year my opinion of the best thing about begin a Mom changes as my children grow.  At this moment, the greatest thing about Motherhood would be watching my children grow into thoughtful, kind and responsible individuals. For the past 5 years, I have either made decisions for them or helped guide their choices but now they are beginning to become more independent and it is extremely rewarding to watch as they grow and become their own unique self."

Lee & Layne Baby Age Blanket -- I'm a new mama to be, so my wish list may look a little different. :) This age blanket is such a creative way to document baby Hill’s development over his/her first 12 months -- and of course, I'm all about accessorizing with cute décor!
Joyfully Boxed -- I have a passion for people who make things with their hands and hearts. Each box is filled with a variety of handcrafted surprises -- from cute stationary and beautiful art prints to skin care and home decor items. I'd love a six-month subscription so I can be pampered with goodies leading up to my due date!
Wardrobe Therapy -- Sometimes I need an extra "nudge" when doing a closet purge, because let's face it, that one dress from seven years ago is not coming back in style. Having a personal stylist lend advice on what works best for my body type and lifestyle is an affordable way to make the most out of my current wardrobe!
Pistacia Vera -- I love to start my day jotting down new thoughts and ideas. You'll often find me here, enjoying some of my favs: cafe au lait, muesli and yogurt with berry preserves, and a few macarons to save for later.
A quick labor and pain-free delivery in October. Hey, this is a wish-list, right?

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The best thing about motherhood: It's the greatest gift of unconditional love that you can give and receive"

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

Growing up, my family always gave my mom flowers and plants for Mother's Day. We would spend the afternoon planting them.  I have so many wonderful memories of that time.  My husband and two sons have continued the tradition and we plant our garden every Mother's Day with all types of delicious fruits and vegetables.

I really enjoy running and hope for running gifts for Mother's Day including my favorite sneakers (currently the Brooks Ravenna VII), new running pants (wish list from Altheta), or a massage (I love relaxing at the Woodhouse Spa in Dublin).  My husband also lets me sleep in, which is the best gift of all!

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The greatest thing about being a mother is the opportunity to develop the strongest bond between any two people that is possible, mother and child. The sound of their laughter brings pure joy to my heart!"

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

I'd love to spend as much time as I can with my friends, family and husband because the baby comes. Doing things like going to our favorite local restaurants, bars (for non-alcoholic cocktails), anywhere where strollers aren't the norm.

-Since I've been feeling so great this pregnancy (I know, lucky me), I've been really into pampering myself with face masks, manicures, blowouts, etc. I'd love to have a whole day to get a facial, my eyebrows done, nails done, the whole 9 yards and then maybe go out for an amazing meal.

-I think maybe the biggest thing I would want as a gift for Mother's Day is to have little Olivia's nursery all ready to go when she gets here in August. One less thing we have to do when I'm waddling at 8 months :)

What is the greatest thing about Motherhood in your eyes?

"You know, I'm still not a fully functioning mom but I've already got those natural instincts kicking in and it's such an amazing feeling. The amount of confidence and protection that I've already felt with this little peanut is overwhelming, in an overly positive way. You really never know what kind of parent or person you are going to be until you are in the situation and so far, I'm proud of this adventure that we've started. I am mostly looking forward to growing together as a family and seeing just how different and exciting our lives will be at Mother's Day next year!"

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The greatest thing about being a mother is experiencing the world through their eyes and watching them internalize moments that only come from getting out and seeing our community. Throwing rocks into streams, touching murals, hearing street music…tasting new foods and trying some of my childhood favorites for the first time. It is humbling to be their guide in this world. I also take full advantage of the opportunity to eat lots of donuts and cookies, you know, for the kids."

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?
My perfect Mother's Day would consist of sleeping in past 7:00a. :-) A delicious start to the day at Fox In The Snow Cafe - a personal family favorite. Receiving some homemade cards with heartfelt messages from my hubby and daughters. Maybe an afternoon massage from The Woodhouse Day Sp. My ideal dinner would be spent around our table with a home-cooked Blue Apron meal, and snuggles with my kiddos to end the day. Yep, that sounds like the best day ever!

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The greatest thing about motherhood is that I've been entrusted with three greatly unique souls to shape, model, nurture and grow. Each of them different and so incredibly special. And in the process, I'm reminded daily how to value life through their innocent perspectives."

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

1.    A quiet morning to myself where my husband takes the boys out to breakfast and maybe a shopping trip and not come back until nap time. (Bringing home food for me optional but highly recommended.) A morning where I can wake up on my own, drink hot coffee in bed. A day where I don’t have to rush out of the house and can spend it slowly and enjoy every quiet minute that passes.

2.  A photo album with all the family pictures I’ve taken in the past year and still have yet to print or combine into a photo album.  Who has time to make the album when you’re out making all the memories?

3.    Dinner and drinks with my husband at Basi Italia. A romantic night out where we can have real conversations with one another. And it wouldn’t hurt if he showered me with compliments on how well a job I’m doing at this mom gig.

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The greatest thing about mothers is we are the greatest combination of strength and softness. Motherhood has given me such raw emotions of overflowing joy, swelling heartache and strength beyond measure. We all stumble into motherhood with emotions like never before.  As mothers we can cry at the drop of a hat, we become the soft landing spot for our children. And sometimes even in the same moment, we can feel stronger and more capable than ever before. We push through challenges every single day and just when we think we can’t dig any deeper to give more of ourselves we wake up each day and do it all over again. My children have blown my heart wide open and motherhood has made me softer AND stronger. We are healers, nurturers, pillars of strength, we are mothers and we make the world a more beautiful place."

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

Ideally, I would love to spend Mother's Day celebrating with my mom and also, my mother-in-law. In past years, I've enjoyed picking out flowers at the nursery and cooking out with of them. This year, it's a bit different Mother's Day as it's my first! I would love a day with my little family - my husband, my daughter, and I - where we could have a mini day trip and go exploring somewhere. Being outside in the sunshine and taking photos would make me so happy! All I ask for is quality time - that's definitely my "love language."

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"The best thing about motherhood is being about to share your life with someone you love dearly. Nothing makes me happier than to see my daughter's face light up into that precious smile. It makes me realize life is so much bigger than me!"

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

1. A day at the spa. J Bentley Studio & Spa in Powell offers an Express Escape package. The package includes: express manicure and express pedicure, choice of express facial or express massage, and catered meal.
2. Anything from Helen Winnemore’s in German Village. I have memories of my dad taking me to pick out a Mother’s Day gift each year as a child. I have visions of my husband doing the same with our daughter.
3. The chance to get to a Barre3 class.
4. To finally take advantage of Giant Eagle’s Curbside Express.

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"My daughter was born 8 months ago. The greatest thing about Motherhood, thus far, has been meeting my little girl after carrying her for 9 months, and watching as her personality develop. It is incredible how quickly she is becoming her own person. Motherhood has introduced me to a new level of love. I think Elizabeth Stone says it best, “Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

What is on your Mother's Day Wishlist?

The things I'd most like for Mother's Day are: hugs & cuddles, a clean house and time to read a book in the sunshine.

What is the greatest thing about motherhood in your eyes?

"Motherhood has brought so much joy to my life.  Seeing my children smile fills my heart with happiness.  I love the experiences that we have together.  We are always up for an outing to a fun spot around Columbus and on our travels.  Some of our favorites are the Columbus Zoo, Disney World, and trying out new parks.  I have as much fun as my kids on our adventures.  I look forward to each moment I spend with them."
